The number of people living with cancer
Cancer Research estimates that there are almost 3.5 million people living with cancer in the UK, an increase from around 3 million in 2020. This number will continue to grow.
New cases of cancer diagnosed each year
More than 420,000 people are diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK. On average someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer at least every 75 seconds.
People dying from cancer
Cancer remains the biggest overall cause of death for people in the UK. Each year, more than 168,000 people die from cancer in the UK, an average of 460 people every day. However, mortality has increased at a much slower rate in comparison to incidence, showing a rise of 5% between 2012 and 2022.
How does Macmillan assist those affected by cancer?
In 2024 alone, Macmillan reached 2.4 million people affected by cancer. An incredible achievement - limited only by funding.
What, as a village, can WE do to support the work of Macmillan?
Most, if not all of us, have been affected by cancer, either through supporting or losing a loved one, or through personal direct experience. By combining forces, cafetieres and slices of cake, we CAN make a difference, by supporting Tysoe's own Coffee Morning.
And, as we don't tend to do things by halves, why don't we make that a coffee DAY - and keep the village hall doors open until 4pm - so more people can take time to visit and support.
The event
When : Saturday 26th September
Doors open : 10am though 4pm
What will we be serving : coffee (filter AND instant), tea, cakes, and many other culinary treats

We aim to make this an event for all ages to participate in, including our younger villagers, watch our updates for more details.
