A shared moment of celebration

A night at the hall to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of war in Europe - making memories in your village hall

Celebrating VE80 at your hall

For the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe, the Parish Council, Village Hall, Tysoe WI and the CCOTS Choir held a celebration at the Village Hall on the evening of Saturday 10th May 2025.

A packed (yes, another sell-out event) audience enjoyed a lovely fish and chip supper, sang along to a wonderful collection of contemporary songs expertly sung by Anna Harcourt and the CCOTS choir, devoured many of Rebecca Ridgway's ice-creams and watched the 1971 Dad's Army film - silly but with much laughter. The WI did us proud, dressed in their 40's finery and many gentlemen proudly (and rightly) wore service medals and dress uniforms.

We took time to wish Bob Ashby (98 years young on the 11th May 2025) a rousing Happy Birthday - as you can see he rather enjoyed the event!

We heard fitting words from David Roache from the Parish Council and Major David Sewell, who both spoke of the strength of the nation during such testing times.

To round things off - Tysoe's very own Anton Lesser made a (remote) appearance - and you can watch a short video newsreel of that below.

Don't forget to watch all the way to the end....

Just before you watch Anton...
